First up is Jacob deGrom in Texas. He is looking like vintage deGrom again, piling up strikeouts, limiting traffic, and commanding everything. San Diego has struggled against right-handed pitching all season, and Globe Life is not exactly a hitter-friendly park. This is the kind of matchup where an ace can completely control the game. Texas moneyline is the play.
Then you have got Jacob Misiorowski in Atlanta. The kid has been electric. He is coming off a complete-game one-hitter with 15 strikeouts last week and looks like he is getting better every time out. He regularly touches triple digits and hitters simply have not had answers for him. Atlanta is without Ronald Acuna Jr., which takes a huge bat out of the lineup, and they do not see many arms with this kind of velocity. On the other side, Martin Perez has been vulnerable, and Milwaukee matches up well. We like the Brewers to win.
The foundation of the card is simple: deGrom and Misiorowski on the moneyline.
Tonight's Card
Two of the best arms on the board, paired to turn two short prices into a clean number. deGrom controls a San Diego lineup that has been among the weakest in the league against righties, and Misiorowski overpowers an Atlanta club missing its best bat. Both favorites profile to run their games from the first pitch.
Misiorowski over 8.5 strikeouts makes a lot of sense given the matchup and the way he has been throwing the ball. He is averaging close to nine a start, and an Atlanta lineup without Acuna becomes even more strikeout-prone against this kind of velocity.
Alejandro Osuna has been swinging it well near the top of the Texas order and draws a Randy Vasquez start that allows plenty of contact. He only needs a modest number to get home.
