Wednesday: All Pitching, All Unders

Six MLB plays tonight built around the same thesis. Elite pitching in favorable matchups. Three game totals, one F5 under, a side, and a K prop at plus money.

MLB only tonight. No NBA, no NHL. The Wednesday slate is stacked with pitching matchups that all point in the same direction: under. Six plays, and every single one is anchored by a starter I trust to suppress runs.

The Plays

Philadelphia Phillies ML (-140)
1.00u · PHI @ SD · Listed Pitchers · 2:10 PM CT

Cristopher Sanchez hasn't allowed a run in 37 2/3 innings. That's the longest active scoreless streak in the National League. San Diego ranks dead last in WRC+ against left-handed pitching at 74. Dead last in WOBA against lefties at .272. Their lineup has five hitters with a 28% or higher strikeout rate against LHP.

Buehler has been getting hit hard by left-handed batters all season. Expected wOBA marks above .380 on multiple pitch types. Philadelphia is going for the sweep before an off day and a big Dodgers series this weekend.

Phillies/Padres UNDER 7 (-114)
1.00u · PHI @ SD · Listed Pitchers · 2:10 PM CT

Same pitching matchup, same direction. San Diego has scored 4 total runs in the first two games of this series. Sanchez's scoreless streak means the Padres side of the scoreboard should stay quiet. Game totals with elite pitching have been our best bet type at 9-2. This one fits the profile perfectly.

Cristopher Sanchez OVER 6.5 Ks (+110)
0.50u · PHI @ SD · 2:10 PM CT

Plus money on the best pitcher in the National League against the worst lineup against lefties in baseball. Sanchez has averaged over 7 strikeouts per start in May. His changeup and slider usage are at career highs. Five hitters in the San Diego lineup have a 28%+ K rate against LHP. This projects to clear around 72%. Plus money on a prop with 72% probability is the kind of line you take every time.

Angels/Tigers F5 UNDER 3.5 (-110)
1.00u · LAA @ DET · Listed Pitchers · 5:40 PM CT

Jose Soriano has a 2.44 ERA with a 27.9% strikeout rate. Casey Mize has a 2.47 ERA with a sub-1.00 WHIP. Both pitchers limit hard contact and generate swings and misses. The home plate umpire has called 62.5% of his games under this season. Comerica Park plays neutral, wind is calm at 4 MPH.

I'm taking the first five innings instead of the full game because the Angels bullpen is terrible. Both starters are elite, but once the bullpens get involved, the variance goes up. F5 unders with two elite starters are 9-1 on the season. That's the best bet type on the board.

Reds/Mets UNDER 8 (-110)
1.00u · CIN @ NYM · Listed Pitchers · 6:10 PM CT

Andrew Abbott has a 1.29 ERA over his last five starts and won his last four decisions. The Mets are 3-11 against left-handed starters this season. They've scored 2 or fewer runs in six of their last seven games. Brazoban is just an opener. Jonah Tong is the primary arm, and he's struggled at both AAA and the big league level. Neither offense has been reliable enough to push this past 8.

Rockies/Dodgers UNDER 7.5 (-110)
1.00u · COL @ LAD · Listed Pitchers · 9:10 PM CT

This is the highest-edge play on the card. Ohtani takes the mound with a 0.73 ERA. His last five starts as a pitcher produced final scores of 4-0, 4-0, 2-1, 2-1, and 3-0. Sugano has a 3.25 ERA on the road. Colorado is a different team outside of Coors Field, and they're missing their best left-handed hitter in Moniak. Dodger Stadium plays neutral to pitcher-friendly.

Yesterday's Results

Tuesday, May 26: 3-3, +0.82u

Yankees run line cashed easy. VGK completed the sweep. Chase Burns parlay hit at +166. Three wins, three losses, still profitable because the winners were structured correctly. The Fox companion prop was a lesson. Companion plays on injured players are a mistake I won't repeat.

Running Record: 41-29, +9.24u, 12.1% ROI

What I'm Watching

Game totals with elite pitching keep printing

9-2 on the season. The thesis is simple: when two quality starters go head to head in a pitcher-friendly park with a neutral umpire behind the plate, the under is the play. Three of tonight's six plays are game totals. The data has been saying the same thing for three weeks, and I'm going to keep following it until it stops working.

F5 unders avoid bullpen risk

The Angels/Tigers play is why first five innings unders exist. Both starters profile as elite, but the Angels bullpen is one of the worst in the American League. If I play the full game under at 7, I'm exposed to late-inning bullpen collapses. If I play the F5 under at 3.5, I'm only betting on the two guys I actually trust. F5 unders with elite starters are 9-1. The logic is sound.

Sanchez is appointment television

37 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings. He's closing in on franchise history. His changeup and slider usage are at career highs, and the strikeout numbers have followed. Three plays from one game might seem aggressive, but when the best pitcher in the NL faces the worst lineup against his handedness, you find every angle you can.

The companion play framework

PHI ML, PHI/SD Under, and Sanchez Ks are all from the same game. All three legs tell the same story. If Sanchez dominates, the Phillies win, the total stays low, and the strikeouts pile up. That's not three independent bets. That's one thesis expressed three ways.

The Approach

Six plays is aggressive. I usually cap it around four. But every play on tonight's card passes the same filter, and they're all built around pitching matchups I feel strongly about. The slate is pitcher-dominant with five teams carrying sub-4 implied run totals. That's a suppressed slate, and the right way to attack it is exactly what I'm doing here.

Total risk tonight: 5.50 units
Record: 41-29, +9.24u, 12.1% ROI

Full card is posted.
