01What exactly are Sweeps Coins and how do they have value?▼
Sweeps Coins (SC) are a virtual currency used on sweepstakes casino platforms. Unlike Gold Coins which are just for fun, SC can be redeemed for real cash prizes at a rate of 1 SC = $1 USD. Sweepstakes casinos legally operate under US sweepstakes law (the same framework that powers Publishers Clearing House) because they always offer a free method of entry alongside any paid Gold Coin purchase.
02Is collecting free SC actually worth the time?▼
Across the 89-site daily-bonus inventory, listed daily maximums add up to just about $50/day, roughly $18,000/year if you ran the full board daily. Treat both only as illustrative catalog ceilings, not expected or guaranteed income. Eligibility, availability, playthrough, reward amounts, and results vary. Inventory last verified July 31, 2026.
03Do I need to spend any money to start?▼
No. Every site we list offers free daily SC with no purchase required. Many sites also have first-purchase bonuses that can be strong value, but those are entirely optional. You can earn and cash out without ever spending a dollar. We recommend starting completely free for your first 2-3 weeks until you understand each site's flow.
04How old do I have to be?▼
The minimum age is 18 at most sites, but several major platforms (Stake.us, Chumba, Pulsz, Fortune Coins, and others) require 21+. Every site runs KYC checks at signup, so you'll need to upload a government-issued photo ID to verify. We show the exact minimum age on each site's review page.
05What's the best site to sign up to first?▼
Start with the sites that pay the most every day, because the daily bonus is what compounds: MyPrize (0.75-5.00 SC/day), Crown Coins (0.70-3.00 SC/day), and Lonestar Casino (1.70 SC/day). Three signups, about 15 minutes, and your daily loop is already worth a few dollars. Signup offers change too often to quote here; the Daily Rewards tracker has a Welcome Bonuses tab with the current numbers side by side.
06What's the difference between Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins?▼
Gold Coins (GC) have no cash value. They're purely for entertainment. You play slots or table games with them for fun, but you can't redeem them for anything. Sweeps Coins (SC) are the redeemable currency. When you play a game with SC and win, those winnings can be cashed out once you clear the minimum. Most casino purchases sell GC packages that include bonus SC as a "free" sweepstakes entry.
07Can I have accounts at multiple sites at once?▼
Absolutely. It's the smart play. Having accounts at 10-30 sites is how grinders hit $50/day. Each site's daily bonus is independent, and stacking sign-up bonuses is legal. What you can't do is create multiple accounts at the same casino. Most sites restrict that to one per household or IP.
Payments & Withdrawals · 7 questions
08What are the minimum withdrawal amounts?▼
Ranges from $10 (Pulsz, Spree) up to $100 (LoneStar, MyPrize, several B/C-tier sites). S-Tier sites average ~$50. Every site review page shows the exact minimum and estimated days to reach it based on daily SC collection.
09What payment methods are available?▼
Three main methods:
1. Cryptocurrency (BTC, LTC, DOGE, USDC): fastest, often same-day. Stake.us is instant.
2. Bank transfer (ACH): available at most sites, 3-5 business days.
3. Gift cards (Amazon, Visa): select sites, usually with the lowest minimums and 6-24hr processing.
10What is KYC and what documents do I need?▼
KYC ("Know Your Customer") is a legal identity verification process required before your first redemption. You'll typically need: a government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport), a selfie holding the ID, and proof of address dated within 90 days (utility bill, bank statement). First-time verification takes 24-72 hours. After that, subsequent redemptions process instantly.
11How long do withdrawals actually take?▼
Crypto: 1-24 hours on most sites. Stake.us and a few others are instant. Bank: 3-5 business days once approved. Gift cards: usually within 24 hours. First withdrawals take longer due to identity verification. Subsequent redemptions are fast because your KYC stays on file.
12Do I need to meet playthrough requirements?▼
Most sites require a 1x playthrough, meaning you bet the total SC amount once before it's eligible to redeem. Some sites like Stake.us have zero playthrough. A few outliers still run 3-5x or higher. We flag those on the review pages and recommend skipping them. Clear your playthrough on high-RTP table games (blackjack, video poker at 99%+ RTP) rather than slots.
13Will I be taxed on my winnings?▼
Generally, yes. Sweepstakes prizes are considered taxable income by the IRS. Sites are typically required to issue a 1099-MISC if your annual winnings exceed $600 at that platform. You're responsible for reporting your winnings to the IRS regardless of whether a 1099 is issued. SweepGrind is not a tax advisor. Consult a qualified CPA for your specific situation.
14What if my withdrawal is stuck or rejected?▼
99% of stuck withdrawals are KYC issues: missing documents, photo quality problems, or name mismatches. Check your email (including spam) for verification requests. If KYC is clean and it's been more than 7 business days, contact the casino's support directly. If they're unresponsive, file a complaint with your state's gaming/consumer protection office and let us know. We track which operators have ongoing payout issues and demote them.
Legal & State Laws · 5 questions
15Are sweepstakes casinos legal in my state?▼
Sweepstakes casinos operate under federal US sweepstakes law and are legal in most states, but a growing list has banned them. Banned or shut down: California (AB 831, Jan 2026), Connecticut, Idaho, Indiana (effective Jul 1, 2026), Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, and Washington, with Maine pending signature. Individual casinos block additional states on top of that, so check our state-by-state guide and the site's review page before signing up. That guide is the page we keep current as laws change.
16Are these sites considered gambling?▼
Legally, sweepstakes casinos in the US are not classified as gambling. They operate under sweepstakes law because they always offer a free method of entry (mail-in or free daily SC), the same structure that Publishers Clearing House and McDonald's Monopoly have used for decades. However, several state attorneys general have challenged this classification, and a handful of states have banned them outright. The legal picture is evolving. We track state-level changes and update our review pages accordingly.
17Can Canadians or international users play?▼
Some sites accept Canadian players (Chumba, LuckyLand, Fortune Coins, Pulsz), but most do not. Outside US/Canada, availability is extremely limited, typically only a handful of sites open to UK or Australia, and they run different bonus structures. Each review page lists exactly which countries the site accepts.
18Why does SweepGrind list sites that ask for my SSN?▼
SSN requests at some sweepstakes casinos are for IRS 1099 reporting and identity verification, the same reason a bank or employer asks. We flag whether each site requests SSN on its review page so you can decide up front. If you'd rather not provide SSN, we recommend sticking to sites we mark "No SSN required" (MyPrize, Stake.us, and several others).
19What happens to my account if my state bans sweepstakes casinos?▼
If your state enacts a ban (like California's AB 831), operators typically give existing users a 30-90 day window to redeem remaining SC balances before closing accounts. Cash out your balance immediately if your state is under active legislative review. We'll flag these changes on our homepage as soon as laws are announced.
Risks & Safety · 4 questions
20Can I lose real money doing this?▼
If you only collect free daily SC and never make purchases, you cannot lose money. You're playing with free coins. If you choose to buy Gold Coin packages for the included bonus SC, that money is at risk. Gold Coins themselves have no cash value, so any money spent on them is gone regardless of how you play. We recommend starting free-only until you understand each site's flow and have successfully cashed out at least once.
21Are any of these sites scams?▼
Sites marked "Payout Verified" on our list have been personally tested with confirmed real-money payouts. We remove sites that fail to pay. Stick to S-Tier and A-Tier sites and you'll be fine. Unranked or brand-new sites carry more risk. Always redeem a small amount first to test the payout flow before loading up with larger balances.
22What about data privacy and security?▼
Legitimate sweepstakes casinos use standard KYC providers (Jumio, Onfido, Veriff) and encrypt identity documents. Never email your ID directly. Always upload through the casino's dedicated KYC portal. Use a unique password per site (password manager recommended), enable 2FA wherever available, and never share account credentials. SweepGrind does not collect or handle your casino login information. We only link you out to the operators.
23What about responsible gaming?▼
Sweepstakes casinos can be habit-forming even with free play. Set time limits, never chase losses with purchases, and self-exclude if you feel it's becoming a problem. Every reputable operator offers deposit limits, cooldown periods, and self-exclusion tools in their account settings. If gambling is negatively impacting your life or someone you know, resources are below.
About SweepGrind · 4 questions
24How does SweepGrind rank sites?▼
Every casino is scored against a published 5-component rubric: Payout Integrity (30%), Daily Value (25%), Game Library (15%), Bonus Stack (15%), Trust Signals (15%). Scores are based on real daily usage across every site we list, not marketing copy, not scraped data. Read the full scoring methodology.
25Why should I trust SweepGrind over other review sites?▼
Most sweepstakes review sites are run by people who signed up once, wrote a review, and collect affiliate commissions. We actually grind every site daily. Our rankings reflect real daily collection experience, verified payouts, and genuine user perspective, not whoever pays the highest commission. Our affiliate disclosures and scoring rubric are both publicly documented.
26How does SweepGrind make money?▼
Like other review sites, SweepGrind earns affiliate commissions when you sign up to a casino through our referral links. These commissions do not influence our rankings. Our tier system is published and applied uniformly across every operator. Sites that pay us the highest commissions don't automatically rank higher, and we've demoted multiple paying partners for payout issues. Read our full affiliate disclosure.
27How do I contact SweepGrind or report a problem?▼
Use our contact page, or send tips about payout issues, new sites we should add, or corrections directly. We read every message and typically respond within 48 hours. If you had a bad experience at a casino we've ranked, tell us. Our scores move quickly when operators mess up real player payouts.
