01 The bottom line

OnyxOdds is not a real-money sportsbook. It is a sweepstakes social sportsbook, the sports equivalent of the GC/SC casinos we track every day. You make picks on real games with two virtual currencies: Onyx Coins for entertainment-only play, and Onyx Cash, the promotional currency you can redeem for real prizes. No purchase is necessary, which is what keeps the model legal in states where real-money betting is not.

The pitch is access: sportsbook-style lines in states with no legal book. The reality is a platform that launched in 2024 and still reads like one. There is no dedicated mobile app, support is email only, and the loyalty program it advertises had not shipped as of our late August 2026 check. The 1x playthrough and low 20 Onyx Cash redemption floor are genuinely friendly terms. But this is an early product from a young operator, and you should size your purchases accordingly: small, if at all.

02 Is OnyxOdds legit?

It operates under the US sweepstakes model rather than a state gaming license, the same legal framework as the sweeps casinos on our main rankings. That is a legitimate structure, but it means no state regulator stands behind your balance the way one does at a licensed book. Your protections are the site's own terms and sweepstakes law.

What we could verify: the site itself says "Free to play. No purchase necessary," Onyx Cash cannot be bought directly (it arrives as a bonus with Onyx Coin purchases or through free entry methods), and redemptions run by ACH transfer with a 1x playthrough. What we could not verify is just as important. We found no clear public information on the parent company or where it is based, no published redemption speed, and no meaningful track record of user payout reports either way. That is not an accusation; it is the normal fog around a 2024 launch. We have not run our own purchase-and-redeem cycle on OnyxOdds yet, so unlike our verified casinos, this one carries no payout stamp.

03 Welcome offer & promos

The offer you get depends on the door you walk in through. As of late August 2026, onyxodds.com itself advertises "Spend $10 & Get 50 in Bonus Picks." Affiliate reviews we fetched describe richer versions: a 100% match on a $10+ Onyx Coin purchase worth up to 100 in Onyx Cash Free Picks, a 200 Bonus Picks package paid out over 4 days (50 per day) via referral links, and a 15 Onyx Cash weekend bonus paid 5 per day over 3 days. Treat the on-site number as the floor and read the terms on whichever version you see.

We found no advertised daily login bonus on the site itself, which matters for grinders: unlike the best sweeps casinos, you cannot count on a steady daily drip here. The advertised loyalty program was not yet implemented at our check. Promos are the welcome package plus whatever runs that week.

04 Markets and bet types

Coverage is broader than the pick'em label suggests. The fetched reviews count 20+ sports, including NFL, NBA, MLB, college football, tennis, boxing, MLS, La Liga, and the Champions League, and the site was pushing World Cup 2026 markets at our check. Each pick works as an entry on a real sports line: spreads, totals, moneylines, and props like anytime touchdown scorers, player passing yards, passing attempts, and first-half totals.

That makes OnyxOdds closer to a sportsbook in sweeps clothing than to a PrizePicks-style more-or-less app, which is a point in its favor if you want sides and totals rather than stacked player projections. The site also lists crypto and market predictions alongside sports. What you give up against a real book: no live betting depth to speak of in the fetched sources, no streaming, and no mobile app, just a mobile-optimized website. The odds are competitive enough for a free-to-play product, but nobody is line shopping here.

05 State availability

This is the muddiest part of the research, and we are flagging it rather than papering over it. As of late August 2026, onyxodds.com lists 30+ eligible states for social sports predictions: AK, AZ, AR, CA, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, KS, KY, MA, MN, MS, MO, NE, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TX, UT, VT, VA, WI, and WY. A third-party review we fetched lists a different, partly contradictory set of 15 excluded states, including some the site itself lists as eligible.

When a site's own list and its reviewers disagree, the signup flow is the tiebreaker: OnyxOdds will accept or reject your state at registration. The minimum age is 18 for US residents, and it is void where prohibited. Do not rely on any third-party state list, including the one above, without checking at signup.

06 Payouts and trust

Redemption terms, from the review sources we fetched: a minimum holding of 20 Onyx Cash to redeem, a 1x playthrough, and ACH transfer as the only redemption method. Those are friendly numbers by sweeps standards. The gap is everything around them.

No published redemption timeline, no live chat if a redemption stalls (email support only), and no payout verified by us yet. Our standing rule applies: until we or a source we trust completes a full purchase-to-bank cycle, treat the redemption terms as claims, not facts. Play the free entries with confidence; put real dollars in only what you can shrug off.
